The Orem and Provo Community Congregational Churches are celebrating a joint Thanksgiving Service and the public is cordially invited. The Rev. Daniel Haas will preach on “Reigning Compassion” at 11:30 a.m. at Orem Community Church, 130 North 400 East. After service a Thanksgiving Dinner will be held. Why so much ado about Thanksgiving? Well, it constitutes who and what we as churches are: Freedom Seekers.
Remember: tomorrow night is game night!
Troop 51 held their Annual Iron Chief Competition. This competition is for the three patrols to show their cooking and presentation skills and to prove which patrol can do it the best. There are several rules to this competition. The most important rule is using the secret ingredient in all courses of the meal. The secret ingredient this year was strawberries. This made for some very interesting flavors. Continue reading “Troop 51 - Annual Iron Chief Competition”
Orem Community Church is hosting another one of their Game Nights: Meet with other local Board and Card Game Enthusiasts! Gather with others who love playing games of all types! Typically we would start our Game Nights with a potluck dinner. Where ever you are on life’s journey, whatever you favorite game may be, you are welcome to bring it with you. We are meeting at 6 p.m. which is a great time to get acquainted and enjoy fellowship and great potluck food. Bring you favorite games and we are good to play and have a fun gaming night for the whole family. If you will, please RSVP through our Meetup Group.

“In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12
Christmas is one of the highlights in the church calendar. In Orem the Living Nativity is our annual Christmas gift to our neighbors. This is not just a congregational activity but the whole communnity is involved in planning preparing and finally celebrating. This year the manger is open December 22nd and 23rd from 7-9 p.m.
On today’s Election Day we recite a prayer by House Chaplain Reverend Daniel P. Coughlin:
“Almighty and ever–living God, bound in faithful love to Your people, be attentive to our deepest needs; for as a nation we place all our trust in You. Since election day approaches, we pray for all those who have placed their name before the people; to seal their commitment of public service for the common good. Purify the intentions of those who deserve the public trust. Continue reading “Prayer for the Election 2008″
