Ministries
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42
Our first and most important ministry is Sunday Worship.
2“Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night.” Psalm 1:1-2
We believe that when you explore the Bible, you don’t have to check your mind at the door—or your curiosity. Scripture can do great harm when used as a weapon, but it also opens a door to the story of God’s loving relationship with humanity. Join us here on a journey of exploration into the ancient stories of faith—sometimes wonderful, sometimes troubling—from Christianity’s most sacred book. Our Adult Bible Study Group meets each Sunday at 9 a. m. at the Orem Church.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-36
It is our mission to feed the hungry and cloth the naked. Every second Tuesday of the month from 10 a. m. to 12 noon we prepare sack lunches for The Food and Care Coalition in Provo. During fall and winter we provide crocheted hats for the homeless. Both our facilities are being used for gatherings of Alcoholics Anonymous helping them to get out of the prison of addiction.
In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12
Christmas is one of the highlights in the church calendar. In Orem the Living Nativity is our annual Christmas gift to our neighbors. In Provo we remember those suffering from HIV/AIDS by providing “Aids stockings” as Christmas presents and sweeten Advent with our Cookie Walk on the second Sunday of December.
“for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Isaiah 56:7
Both our facilities are being used for gatherings of Christian churches of Spanish language and diverse theological traditions. We take pride in the ecumenical unity in diversity that is present in our churches.
Egal ob Geschaeftsreise oder Urlaub: Herzlich Willkommen in Utah. Die Orem und Provo Community Churches bieten Ihnen gerne auch deutsch-sprachige Seelsorge an.
